Creativity was in full bloom at Silvergate Fallbrook as residents and prospective residents of the area’s premier retirement community gathered for an engaging and artful “Paint, Sip & Savor” event today from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Designed to spark imagination and foster meaningful connection, the interactive experience brought seniors together for a memorable blend of artistry, socializing and culinary enjoyment.
Attendees were invited to step outside their daily routines and explore their creative side in a welcoming, working studio environment. Guided by a professional instructor as part of an “Art & Wellness for Seniors” program, the interactive art class was presented in partnership with the Oceanside Museum of Art. Participants created their own original “teeny tiny” masterpieces -- each a unique expression of personal creativity. Guests had the option to take their artwork home or donate it to support the museum’s annual Teeny Tiny Art Sale, benefiting youth art education programs.
Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, guests enjoyed a selection of wine and hors d’oeuvres while working their canvasses, creating a relaxed, social setting that encouraged lively conversation and authentic connection. The event also offered attendees the opportunity to tour Silvergate Fallbrook’s beautifully appointed model apartment homes and experience firsthand the community’s engaging lifestyle.
For many in attendance, the event was a refreshing reminder of the joy that comes from trying something new. “I haven’t picked up a paintbrush in years, but this experience made it so easy and enjoyable,” said Jacky Kovac, a Silvergate resident who has recently moved to the community. “It wasn’t just about the art—it was about conversations, connecting with others, and feeling inspired. That’s what makes living here so special.”
Prospective residents were equally impressed by the vibrant programming and the partnership Silvergate forged with the Oceanside Museum. “When I come here, it’s like old home week. I get to see all my friends,” shared Judie Erickson, who was a physical therapist in Fallbrook for more than 30 years and regularly referred clients to Silvergate. “When I heard that Silvergate was working with the Oceanside Museum on this artistic fundraiser, I was really excited. This kind of thing makes you feel so good about yourself, and you’re part of a worthy cause. It’s great that Silvergate gets involved with the arts in our community in this way. I’ve always sung Silvergate’s praises.”
The event reflects Silvergate Fallbrook’s ongoing commitment to offering enriching experiences that nurture creativity, wellness and social connection among its residents. Activities Director Carie Hensley emphasized the importance of programs like “Paint, Sip & Savor” in cultivating a dynamic community environment.
“At Silvergate, we believe that creativity and connection are essential at every stage of life,” said Hensley. “This event was designed to bring people together in a fun, relaxed way while also supporting a meaningful cause. Seeing residents and guests light up as they created something uniquely their own—that’s what it’s all about.”
“Paint, Sip & Savor” is just one example of Silvergate Fallbrook’s award-winning events and activities program, which offers a diverse calendar of opportunities for residents to explore new interests, build friendships and continue lifelong learning. From art workshops and cultural presentations to fitness classes and social gatherings, the community is dedicated to providing a well-rounded and engaging lifestyle.
As the event concluded, attendees left not only with their handcrafted artwork, but also with a renewed sense of creativity and connection—hallmarks of the Silvergate experience.
