Laughter billowed through the halls, jazz music filled the air and guests dressed in dazzling Gatsby-era attire as residents, families and visiting local seniors gathered at SilvergateFallbrook for the community’s memorable “Roaring ’20s Celebration”.
The lively early afternoon event transformed the community into a vibrant 1920s-inspired social experience complete with live jazz and ragtime music, flamboyant flapper girl entertainers, chef-prepared “speakeasy” morsels, a prohibition-era cocktail and beverage bar, Gatsby-inspired raffle prizes, souvenir photos and a spirited “Dress to Impress” contest. Guests arrived to valet parking and were welcomed into an atmosphere filled with warmth, camaraderie and lively energy.
Guests also enjoyed an impressive dining experience prepared by Silvergate’s culinary team featuring a menu inspired by classic Gatsby-era indulgence. Offerings included chilled shrimp cocktail, elegant egg salad tea sandwiches, chicken salad stacks, vegetable canapés, roasted herb wings and brisket tips, along with decadent desserts such as pineapple upside down cake, vanilla bread pudding and assorted petit fours. The chef-prepared selections added another layer of sophistication and hospitality to the immersive afternoon celebration.
The event was designed to show case the vibrant lifestyle residents experience every day at Silvergate Fallbrook -- one centered around friendship, meaningful engagement and opportunities to easily connect with friends and community neighbors.
“From the moment we walked in, everyone was smiling and talking to one another,” said prospective resident attendee Lonnie Hodgson of Fallbrook, who took home an impressive raffle basket after winning Best Dressed among the ladies. “It didn’t feel like a senior living community. It felt like a celebration with friends. You could immediately see how socially engaged the residents are here, and that really stood out. It made me realize how isolating it can become living alone at home compared to a place like this where people are truly interacting with their neighbors.”
According to community leaders, creating opportunities for seniors to enjoy one another’s company and experience meaningful connections is one of the most important aspects of healthy aging -- and events like the Roaring ’20s Celebration reflect Silvergate’scommitment to keeping residents active, connected and fulfilled.
“At Silvergate, we believe retirement should be joyful, social and inspiring,” said Maurene Cullins, Marketing Director at Silvergate Fallbrook. “Our residents form genuine friendships through shared experiences -- whether that’s live entertainment, themed events, wellness programs, educational opportunities or simply enjoying meals and conversations together each day. This event beautifully captured the spirit of our incredible community.”
The celebration also highlighted the creativity and dedication of Silvergate Fallbrook’s award-winning Activities Team, whose calendar is filled year-round with immersive events, performances, fitness programs, cultural experiences, social gatherings and excursions designed specifically for seniors.
Resident Ambassador Sandy Starr said the lifestyle at Silvergate has brought companionship and renewed joy intoher life.
“Before moving here, I spent a lot of time alone after losing my husband,” she shared. “At Silvergate, I found friendship again. There’s always something happening and always someone inviting you to join in. Events like this are special, but honestly, that sense of connection happens every single day here.”
In addition to signature events like the Roaring ’20s Celebration, residents at Silvergate Fallbrook enjoy a full calendar of activities designed to keep life active, social and enriching every day of the week. Residents can participate in fitness classes, yoga, art workshops, cooking demonstrations, educational lectures, card clubs, movie nights, gardening groups and happy hours, while also enjoying frequent excursions to local wineries, coastal destinations, museums, theaters, casino sand seasonal events throughout Southern California.
“With so many opportunities available, residents really get to decide what direction they want to take the day,” said Executive Director Janae Orona. “Some may start the morning with an exercise class, spend the afternoon on an outing with friends and end the evening enjoying live music or a social event. Others may prefer a quieter pace with a lecture, art activity or conversation over coffee. What makes Silvergate so special is that residents are surrounded by choices, connection and encouragement to continue living fully.”
Research continues to show that social isolation among seniors can negatively impact both physical and emotional well-being, while active social engagement contributes to improved health, happiness and cognitive vitality. Silvergate Fallbrook’s approach focuses on fostering those daily interactions through intentional programming and community-centered living.
Throughout the afternoon, guests toured the community, met residents and staff, enjoyed live performances and experienced firsthand the welcoming environment that has made Silvergate Fallbrook a sought-after retirement destination in North San Diego County. By the end of the event, many attendees lingered after the festivities concluded, continuing conversations and getting to know one another.
