Meeting Rancho Santa Fe's Growing Need for Memory Care

September 16, 2025

Dear Friends of Silvergate Rancho Santa Fe,

There’s an important update to share with you about Silvergate Rancho Santa Fe. As the community continues to take shape, we are pleased to announce that we have enhanced our memory care suites to better meet the higher-than-expected-demand from local seniors and their families.

Need For Memory Care Is Growing Rapidly

Today, more than 6.7 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s disease, and that number is expected to double by 2060. In Rancho Santa Fe alone, more than 850 seniors are age 75+, with many likely to require memory support in the years ahead.

Demand Already Exceeds Supply

Currently, most top-quality memory care communities operate at 97–100% occupancy with long wait lists — including Silvergate’s own existing Memory Care Suites. Families are often left scrambling for limited spaces at a time when they need help the most. Because so many couples have already signed up to move into Silvergate Rancho Santa Fe, we want to ensure we have sufficient accommodations within our memory care suites to deliver on our promise of keeping couples together longer.

Additionally, the added memory care capacity will provide more room for other Rancho Santa Fe residents who have an immediate need for high-quality memory care, but don’t already live in the Silvergate RSF community.

Our Commitment to Residents & the Ranch

From the beginning, we designed Silvergate RSF to guarantee top-quality care for all of our residents while keeping couples together on the same campus. With the addition of a second story to our Memory Care building, we can deliver on that promise and expand capacity for other seniors in the Ranch—all without increasing the site’s building footprint.

The Right Solution at the Right Time

This well considered addition to our Memory Care building addresses a real and urgent need for high-touch, compassionate care in the Ranch, offering peace of mind for families who want professional care close to home, but not directly in their home. We believe this enhancement to the community’s design is the right thing to do and now is the right time to do it.

Your Support Matters

If you believe in bringing this level of critically needed care to Rancho Santa Fe, please consider voicing your support to the RSF Art Jury and Association Board. You can call, send an email or attend the upcoming Art Jury meeting on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025. Together, we can make this much-needed, missing community resource a reality for all Rancho Santa Fe residents.

Warm regards,

Greg Petree
