Silvergate Rancho Santa Fe, the highly anticipated luxury retirement community planned for construction on the perimeter of the Covenant, has reached a significant planning milestone with the submittal of its initial development package to the Rancho Santa Fe Association in early March, 2024. The owners of the proposed development site, AmeriCare Health & Retirement, Inc., are pleased to announce this pivotal step in the planning stages of this one-of-a-kind upscale senior living community.
“We are thrilled to have submitted our initial concept to the RSF Association,” said Matt Petree, Vice President of Development and Chief Financial Officer for AmeriCare. “We have complete confidence that this project, which addresses several key underserved needs in the community, will gain approval and contribute positively to the long-term viability and beauty of Rancho Santa Fe. This recent submittal keeps us right on track with the development timeline we’ve conveyed to local residents.”
Since acquiring the nearly 30-acre site located at Via De La Valle and Avenida Del Bosque near Chino Farms, Silvergate’s executive team has been diligently working towards plan submittal, ensuring that the development concept complies with zoning, coverage, height, and setback requirements of the Association and demonstrates a commitment to responsible and sustainable growth in the Ranch.
The proposed development offers a proven mix of retirement living units; including 44 single-story cottage homes, 94 two and three-bedroom apartment homes, and a stand-alone building dedicated to 24 private, high-touch memory care rooms. This diverse range of senior living housing promises to more fully meet the needs of downsizing seniors who want to remain in the Ranch as they age.
“We’re incredibly proud of the project we’ve thoughtfully designed for the seniors of Rancho Santa Fe. We wholeheartedly believe approval of this project will provide active seniors with an opportunity to stay in the community they have come to know and love — which means they can stay near friends and neighbors, continue to shop locally and stay active in their local organizations and charities,” said Greg Petree, President of AmeriCare Health & Retirement, who currently has oversight of the day-to-day operations of the company’s boutique collection of Southern California retirement communities. “What’s more, as one of the largest contributors of dues to the Association, Silvergate will generate more than $150,000 annually in new revenue for many other community needs – it’s a win-win for the Ranch in so many ways.”
Silvergate’s next step in the development process involves a second review of the plan by the Rancho Santa Fe Art Jury in the spring to demonstrate that the project complies with Rancho Santa Fe building regulations and aligns with the character of the surrounding community. The team at Silvergate has meticulously drawn up architectural plans that mimic the look and feel of the Ranch – with inspiration drawn from the Lillian Rice architectural style, including low-height structures that are more easily shielded by lush, beautiful landscaping. When complete, the project will also significantly beautify one of the main entry points to the Ranch.
Open Invitation To Local Organizations
In addition to the gearing up for the initial plan submittal, AmeriCare has actively sought public input and feedback regarding the project concept, engaging with Covenant residents at several owner Meet & Greet Gatherings as well as giving presentations to local organizations since November 2023. Silvergate will continue to host more project briefings for local residents and organizations throughout the coming year. Organizations, clubs or charities interested in having organizers schedule a Meet & Greet Presentation for their membership can call Christine Russell, Director of Marketing and Communications for AmeriCare, at (858) 342-6057.
