San Diego Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve the initiation of the proposed retirement community in Bernardo Heights
AmeriCare Health & Retirement, Inc., a privately held healthcare management company headquartered in Solana Beach, CA, announced this week that the City of San Diego Planning Commission has reviewed and approved the initiation of the proposed Silvergate Rancho Bernardo project. The approval, which took place on January 15th, was unanimously in favor of approving the initiation of the project. With the initiation process complete, the project now moves into a more comprehensive planning phase.
Initiation is a preliminary step that gives the community and City of San Diego an introduction to the project. After working closely with the community over the last year, AmeriCare is pleased to have won the support of the RB Development Review Committee, the RB Planning Board, and now the San Diego Planning Commission for the approval of the initiation of the project. In a report that recommended the project’s initiation approval, the City’s Planning Department noted that the proposed project would be consistent with the surrounding community and fulfill a need to serve the area’s large senior population.
“We are very encouraged by the Planning Commission’s unanimous vote,” explains Matthew Petree, Project Manager for the Silvergate Rancho Bernardo project. “Now that the project has made it through the initiation phase, we will continue to work hard to design a first-class retirement community that will address the community’s need for more senior housing.
“We are grateful all the feedback and support we’ve received from the community over the last year. We look forward to continuing our outreach efforts with the RB community as we move into the planning phase of the project.”
AmeriCare anticipates submitting the project to the City of San Diego for further review later this spring.
