We also had a very special Blessing of the Ground by Rev. Bill Zettinger of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church and Rabbi Nadav Caine of Ner Tamid Synagogue.

April 14, 2017 – Groundbreaking Ceremony
Since the beginning of the year, we have been working diligently with our project team to make progress on the plans and to keep construction costs under control. I am now happy to report we are finally ready to break ground next month!
We will be celebrating this project milestone with a Groundbreaking Ceremony on Wednesday, May 10th at 1 pm. Please save the date, as we hope you’ll join us for this grand and much anticipated event. More details will be provided soon.
As for other project updates, I’ve highlighted a few of the things we’ve been working on lately below.
Fine Tuning the Project Plans
The project team has been hard at work fine tuning the plans, and has spent an extensive amount of time ensuring the high quality of the project while keeping costs under control.
Negotiating with Contractors
We’ve been reviewing and selecting the best local contractors in San Diego, and feel confident that this project will be built to the high standard we have come to expect.
Selecting an Interior Design Firm
After a thorough review of proposals from several interior design firms, we have selected Warner Design Associates, a specialist in premier senior living properties.
I’m happy to announce that a construction loan for the project has been reviewed and approved by City National Bank. This ensures our financial stability during the construction phase of the project.
Receiving our Grading Permit
In addition to the entitlement permits we received last year, we now have approval from the City of San Diego to proceed with grading, which is slated to begin in May.
Lastly, I want to express my gratitude for your continued support and willingness to join us on this journey. Now that we’re entering into the construction phase of the project, we will be sending out monthly project updates so that you can stay on top of the latest news.
I do hope you join us for the Groundbreaking Ceremony on May 10th, and I look forward to seeing you then.

February 1, 2017 – Silvergate Makes Progress in Permitting Process
Over the last several months, the Silvergate Rancho Bernardo project has made considerable progress in the City of San Diego’s development permitting process. We have elected to go through the City’s “Express Review” channel in order to make it through the permitting process as quickly as possible. We have recently reached a milestone in the process – completing the extensive review for a grading permit.
Additionally, we have been working diligently with the project architects, engineers, and consultants to continue developing the design of the project.
Lastly, we’re rolling up our sleeves as we negotiate a contract for construction of our flagship property.
We will continue to keep you informed and updated as progress continues. Stay tuned for exciting upcoming project updates, including details on the groundbreaking ceremony and more!

August 3, 2016 – Silvergate is Approved!
We are excited to announce that after years of planning, preparation and community meetings, the Silvergate Rancho Bernardo project was unanimously approved 9-0 by the San Diego City Council.
In a packed Council Chambers, among the crowd were 30 dedicated seniors showing their support for the project. These individuals have followed our project since the beginning and have placed Advanced Reservations at Silvergate. Their presence at the hearing made a big difference and we were grateful for their support. Following the hearing, attendees and AmeriCare representatives celebrated the victory at special private reception in downtown San Diego.
“We’re thrilled with the City Council’s decision today,” stated Matt Petree, Director of Property Development. “For more than 2 1/2 years, we have been working closely with the community and we believe we have developed a project that will be a wonderful addition to Rancho Bernardo. With the approvals in place, we can move forward toward our goal of breaking ground on construction by the end of the year.”
City Council’s approval is a major milestone for the project. The next phase of the project is to obtain the necessary building permits, and once those are in place construction can begin. Construction is still scheduled to begin by the end of this year and finish in 2018.
As always, we will continue to keep you in the loop with any project updates.
