Silvergate Guests Enjoy Lunch with a View

Silvergate San Marcos hosts popular San Diego Bay ferry ride and lunch at Peohe’s in Coronado

SAN MARCOS, CA – Silvergate Retirement Residence, a locally owned, top-rated retirement and assisted living community in San Diego County, hosted its popular Peohe’s Lunch Outing this past week.  Guests were treated to a special ferry ride across the San Diego Bay followed by lunch at the bay front restaurant Peohe’s.  The special outing took place on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.

The nostalgic 15-minute ride aboard the “Silvergate” ferry departed from the Broadway pier mid-morning, just as the clouds and fog burned off, leaving a beautiful view of the San Diego skyline and Coronado Island.  Once Silvergate guests disembarked the ferry, it was just a short walk to the waterfront restaurant.

Lunch at Peohe’s included a few different “island-inspired” dishes, including the Peohe’s Salad and freshly baked rolls to start, followed by either the Sesame Crusted Salmon, Coconut Crunchy Shrimp, Thai Roasted Chicken entrees.  The meal was then topped off with the special “No Ka Oi” ice cream dessert.

After lunch, guests enjoyed some afternoon shopping along around the Coronado Ferry Landing boutique shops before boarding the Silvergate bus back to San Marcos.

Day trips and outings like the Peohe’s lunch are just one aspect of the active lifestyle Silvergate residents enjoy.

“I love visiting Coronado, but it so hard to get here by myself,” explained Silvergate guest Jean Ryan.  “It’s nice to enjoy the ride on the Silvergate bus and not have to worry about driving all the way down here.”

“Our residents and guests really enjoy going on these outings to local attractions,” explained Melba Dunn, Silvergate Administrator.  “We try to make it as convenient as possible for everyone to visit places they want to go to, like Coronado or Julian, by taking care of the transportation and reservations.  It really makes the outings more enjoyable.”
