Guests Enjoy an Afternoon with Elvis at Silvergate San Marcos
San Marcos community opens its doors to the public for a Vegas-themed Open House event
Silvergate Retirement Residence, a locally owned, top-rated retirement community in San Diego County, hosted a spectacular Vegas-themed Open House event last week. Guests enjoyed martinis, seven different gourmet hors d’oeuvres and desserts, a photo booth and live entertainment by Elvis and two Vegas showgirls. The special event was held on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 18, 2014.
Our San Marcos community was transformed into a Vegas casino and showroom, complete with chocolate “poker chips” and cards on tables, Vegas showgirls walking and dancing around the community, and a fantastic performance by Elvis. Many guests took the opportunity to have their photo taken with Elvis and the showgirls throughout the afternoon, with a few getting the chance to snap a few shots with each in the photo booth.
Throughout the event, guests were treated to several fabulous hors d’oeuvres prepared by Executive Chef Alfonso Fitch, including shrimp cocktail, cheese and crackers, stuffed mushrooms, Caesar salad, ham and cheese quiche, meatballs, and melon balls infused with fresh mint. Guests also had their choice of three specialty martinis – a Blackjack Martini, Jackpot Martini, and the most popular of the three, a Blue Suede Martini with premium vodka, “Rose’s” blue raspberry mix and club soda. For dessert, each table had a tower of delectable desserts, including lemon bars, cupcakes, cannoli and chocolate chip blonde brownies, and each guest took home a handmade truffle before leaving.
“These parties are a great way of inviting our friends in the community to see how fantastic and fun living at Silvergate can be,” explained Silvergate Resident Ambassador Marlene Champlin.
Guests who toured the community had the opportunity to enter into a raffle drawing for the “Silvergate Jackpot,” which included a $250 gift certificate for dinner and a resort stay at Valley View Casino & Resort. Along with the “Silvergate Jackpot” drawing, guests also had the opportunity to participate in a costume contest, with prizes going to the best men’s Rat Pack costume, ladies’ Vegas Glamour costume, and couples’ costume. At the end of the event, the winners of each were announced, with the best men’s Rat Pack costume going to Naz Rondinelli, the best ladies’ Vegas Glamour costume going to Virginia DeBoer, the best couples’ costume awarded to Dennis and Brigid Manning, and the “Silvergate Jackpot” going to Gloria Jordan, who also had the best Elvis costume among the guests.
