Del Mar, CA.
Last week, future residents of Silvergate Rancho Bernardo, a luxury retirement community currently under development in the Bernardo Heights neighborhood of Rancho Bernardo, ventured out to the Del Mar Racetrack to test their luck where the surf meets the turf. More than 40 seniors joined in the Silvergate adventure for a private lunch in the Stretch Run stands and an afternoon of excitement.
“Today’s trip was just marvelous,” said Marilyn Bohle, long time resident of Escondido. “It’s always fun to spend the day at the races. It was also nice to interact with many of our future neighbors. Everybody was so excited to meet each other and I can’t wait until our next trip.”
For some, a return to the track was welcomed familiar territory. “My wife and I used to go to the track quite often seven or eight years ago, but somehow we just stopped going,” said Merle Jager, a longtime Poway resident. “Silvergate took care of all the details including transportation, lunch, tickets, everything. All we had to do was say “yes”. Outings like these are exactly what I’m looking forward to when we move in.”
According to Pam Rundle – Marketing Director for Silvergate Rancho Bernardo, this trip was one of many outbound adventures planned with Silvergate in the coming months. “Providing an active lifestyle is a key part of our commitment to our future residents. Whether we’re at the races is Del Mar, a vineyard in the local wine country, or celebrating the holidays at the Hotel Del in Coronado, we understand seniors want to keep celebrating life to the fullest. Our job is simply to make it easy to do just that.”
Silvergate’s executive management team was also in attendance and accompanied the seniors to the track. “One of the many advantages of being a locally run, private San Diego company is active involvement by the owners,” said Greg Petree, Vice President of Marketing for Silvergate Retirement Residences. “Our residents and families continually tell us how meaningful it is to them to live in a senior community where they know the owner. It provides an added sense of trust and comfort knowing they’re paying such close attention.”
For Pete Hunt, a Scripps Ranch resident, an opportunity to spend time with AmeriCare’s CEO David Petree (Silvergate’s parent company) led to another local discovery. “I was a pilot in the Navy for many years before I flew commercially for United,” remarked Hunt. “As it turns out David was Navy man himself and a former neighbor of one of my closest pilot friends. Now that I know he was a former SeaBee (the Navy’s construction battalion), I have all confidence that the project will be built right.”
Silvergate Rancho Bernardo is the third Silvergate community in North County San Diego developed and operated locally by AmeriCare. Silvergate Rancho Bernardo will be their flagship property offering a multitude of resort-like amenities to seniors across the 11 acre campus. The project is on schedule to complete major construction by early next year and will open to residents in the spring of 2020.
