July 31, 2014 – In its recent community presentations, AmeriCare has shared its initial design concepts for Silvergate Rancho Bernardo with community members and received positive and useful feedback from the community.
AmeriCare’s plans to build a retirement community in RB directly address an increasing community need for sufficient senior housing in the area. A recent independent market study showed a substantial deficiency of 300 senior living units in RB that is set to increase to 356 units in just 4 years. Silvergate Rancho Bernardo is planning to address this important community need.
The project will be AmeriCare’s third Silvergate retirement community and offer a mix of independent living, assisted living, and memory care units. It will include approximately 200 senior living units, making it similar in density to other retirement communities in RB. The residential design of the project is also compatible with the existing neighborhood.
The proposed project includes a grand entryway leading directly into a large central clubhouse that includes areas for activities and other common uses. Located to the west and east of the clubhouse are two buildings housing independent and assisted living units. Between the two buildings will be a lush central courtyard with a water feature and other outdoor amenities. Just beyond the central courtyard will be common dining facilities that will serve residents three meals a day with both formal and casual dining options. In a separate building north of the dining facilities, there will be a Memory Care Suites building for residents living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
The project also includes plans for independent cottages – a new concept for Silvergate retirement communities that AmeriCare representatives and community members alike are excited about. The independent cottages will give the community a residential look that is consistent with the surrounding residential area and provide a unique senior living option to RB.
Other proposed amenities included in the initial concept plans of the project include extensive perimeter and interior walking paths, and linear park for both resident and public use located on the outer perimeter of the site, a lap pool, and an underground parking structure for residents and staff.
AmeriCare representatives encourage RB community members to continue to provide their comments and feedback during this preliminary design phase of the project.
