July 23, 2020 – Peter Moussally, a new resident at the senior living community of Silvergate Fallbrook, re-examined his life last year after a traumatic health scare in his own home. The seriousness of the event brought his family to its knees for nearly three months after Mousally’s collapse and subsequent stay in the hospital to recover.
“It was unlike my Dad to not pick up the phone when I called,” said Kim Sarmiento, Moussally’s daughter who lives in town and dashed over to her father’s house that day to check up on him. “When he didn’t answer the door, I broke into the house to find him slumped on the floor and not as responsive as usual…not making sense. A frantic 911 call lead to EMTs at the door and a nerve-wracking ride to the hospital. It was scary, but we were lucky. We were just in time, and the doctors and medical teams were able to save my Dad’s life. That’s when we knew we needed help with his care, and we started an exhaustive search for the right retirement community for him.”

Silvergate Fallbrook, which has been tending to seniors for more than 30 years, provided the ideal care solution for Moussally and his family. As the region’s leading senior living community, Silvergate offered a seasoned team of caregivers and private accommodations in a newly remodeled, vibrant senior living community. Most importantly, Sarmiento could take comfort in knowing that her Dad would have round-the-clock care if he needed it.
“After spending months looking for the right place for my Dad, we moved him to Silvergate because we found their experienced caregivers to be so compassionate, loving and respectful,” said Sarmiento, who works from home and tries to social distance visit her father whenever possible. “The apartment homes are lovely here, and the food is excellent. More importantly though, he’s safe and happy here. I don’t have to worry about him anymore.”
“What happened to Peter serves as a cautionary tale for seniors living at home alone,” said Patricia Martinez, Executive Director for Silvergate Fallbrook. “Many families wait too long to consider the considerable benefits of retirement community living. Here, residents are safer than they are when they live alone, and they have everything they need. We continually monitor their care. They can be more active, enjoy nutritious meals prepared every day by our Executive Chef, and have high-touch care whenever necessary.”
“It’s such a pleasure to be living here at Silvergate,” said Moussally, who enjoys spending his free time reading in the library, exercising to stay fit with his community-provided gym membership and mingling with other residents in the community. “I was in interior design and the furniture business for many, many years. I loved helping people find ways to make their houses feel like homes. I can tell you this; Silvergate has done a wonderful job remodeling this property to make it really feel like a home to all of us who live here. The art, the furnishings, the décor…it’s all just beautiful.”
