San Marcos community hosts popular luncheon at one of San Diego’s most famous restaurants
Silvergate Retirement Residence, a locally owned, top-rated retirement community in San Diego County, hosted its popular lunch outing to Bertrand at Mister A’s in Downtown San Diego last week. Guests enjoyed a gourmet, three-course lunch with spectacular views of the San Diego skyline. The special luncheon took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 20, 2014.
The midday event began at Silvergate San Marcos, where residents and guests boarded the Silvergate bus and enjoyed the ride into Downtown San Diego. At Bertrand at Mister A’s, guests were seated along the floor-to-ceiling windows facing the San Diego skyline and bay, and were treated to planes flying across the skyline as they descended into Lindbergh Field.
For lunch, guests enjoyed options from a prix fixe menu, which included either a local farm garden salad or European white asparagus and their choice of a house ground Kobe steak burger, pan seared Loch Duart salmon filet, and house made pappardelle pasta. The lunch concluded with the choice of three desserts – Tahitian vanilla bean crème brûlée, mixed berry shortcake, and flourless chocolate torte.
“These outings are just so fantastic,” stated Silvergate resident Marlene Champlin. “Since moving to Silvergate I’ve been able to get out more and spend time with new friends, something I wasn’t really doing when I was living by myself.”
After lunch, guests stepped out on to the rooftop balcony and took in the sights and sounds of the sunny, picturesque San Diego skyline and bay before boarding the Silvergate bus and heading back to San Marcos.
