Silvergate Rancho Bernardo is proud to announce that we were awarded the “Zero Net Water Citation Award” in 2018 by the San Diego Green Building Council! We received the award for our proprietary gray water system that will be utilized throughout the campus. We are extremely proud to be recognized in our efforts to be a sustainably designed retirement community.
The San Diego Green Building Council is an environmental nonprofit dedicated to providing education, outreach, and advocacy surrounding green building in the San Diego community. A gray water systems treats and reuses water from bathroom sinks, showers, and washing machines to irrigate the entire campus. Wastewater from toilets and kitchen sinks still go directly into the sewer system.
Out in the field, construction continues to progress on our flagship community. We remain on track to complete construction towards the end of the year, and open our doors in early 2020.
