With major construction nearing completion, Silvergate Rancho Bernardo now moves into the final phases of preparing its 11-acre retirement community campus for incoming residents, including securing formal licensing from the state of California.
Silvergate has begun the process of applying for RCFE licensing, a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly designation, a requirement for care, supervision and the assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). The comprehensive process with regulators is expected to take approximately three to four months, dependent upon the responsiveness of state regulators.
Unlike many retirement communities, all of Silvergate Rancho Bernardo will be licensed, allowing for care to be delivered throughout the property, including the community’s stand-alone cottages. That’s important for seniors who may be concerned about having to move once they get settled.
“At Silvergate, residents can remain in their homes and gracefully age in place,” said Pam Rundle, Marketing Director for the community. “As care is needed over time, it is delivered to residents rather than requiring them to move to where the care happens to be located. That’s a big deal for many seniors who are looking for peace of mind and the ability to stay together as a couple. There’s no need to relocate a loved one when care needs change.”
In addition to submitting for formal licensing, Silvergate has also hired its new Executive Director for the community. Along with navigating the complex California licensing process, the Executive Director’s primary focus will be to recruit and hire an experienced team of highly qualified senior managers for every aspect of the community. From the Executive Chefs in the on-site restaurants to the licensed vocational nurses in the Memory Care Suites, a veteran staff with wide-ranging skills will be in place when the community opens its doors.
“Progress marches forward here at Silvergate,” said Matt Petree, Director of Project Management for the community, “We conducted an exhaustive search to find the ideal person to oversee the operations of this luxury retirement community here in Rancho Bernardo. We’re excited to say that we have found someone with nearly two decades of experience in retirement living who we’re confident can help us realize our vision of resort-style retirement for seniors.”
Silvergate Rancho Bernardo is now more than 95% pre-leased. With nearly all of the independent and assisted living apartment homes now filled, the community has started accepting advance reservations for the 48 Memory Care Suites, which will be opening Summer of 2020.
